Overlanding through Botswana, Central Kalahari, Moremi & Makgadikgadi Pans
Botswana is one of the few areas in Africa where one can still free-camp in a wild area without perimeter fences. For those who truly want to get close to nature in an affordable, unhurried way, an overland camping safari through Botswana’s rugged countryside.
Itinerary
Day 1
Self- drive into Central Kalahari to either camp near Deception Valley or stay at a lodge like Haina or Deception Valley lodge nearby.
Day 2 to 3
Explore Deception Valley and the Pans in the Park from your camp site or from your nearby lodge.
Day 4
Drive on to Maun to stock up, experience a scenic flight over the Delta, pay park fees and overnight at a lodge outside of Maun e.g. Thamalakane lodge.
Day 5 to 8
Drive into Moremi to camp at either 3rd Bridge, Khwai, Xakanaka or Savuti camp sites or at lodges in the area. Eg Machaba, Mankwe,
Day 9
Return to Maun to refuel etc and head out to Naxi Pan or Makgadigadi Pans National Park for another 2 nights.
Day 10 to 11
Explore Naxi Pan and/or Makgadigadi from campsites or nearby lodges like Gweta, Planet Baobab etc.
Day 12
Depart and drive on to Nata Lodge, Tuli lodge or Khama Rhino Sanctuary depending on your destination.
